It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I absolutely LOVE Christmas time!!! I typically start listening to Christmas music in August. Ii start my Christmas music in August. I start my Christmas shopping early. And my decorations are up well before Thanks giving! I love living in a world where people's hearts are full of the spirit of giving and people are singing songs about Jesus any day of the week. I love holiday parties and gift giving. I wish the spirit of Christmas could live all year long! So far this season, Mike and I have celebrated by going to some holiday parties, shopping together, ward Christmas parties, and the Festival of Trees. We put lights up outside, decorated teh house, and put up our Christmas tree. I really hope the next week and a half slow down beause I really want to enjoy every minute left of this holday season!

We got a huge snow storm last week and West Jordan got a TON of snow! We were one the cities in Utah to receive the most snow! We also learned in West Jordan they don't believe in snow plows. Good times! But our sweet teenage neighbor boy surprised us with a nice, shoveled driveway and a heaping pile of snow to show his hard work!

Mike and I went to the Festival of Trees last year with my family and loved it. We have started to make it a tradition.
I decided to take pictures of the trees who represented people in my family. This tree represented me-- it was the ONLY Twilight tree I saw this year, and it was rather creative. It was a "Because it Always Rains in Forks" tree and it had a lot of little shiny umbrellas with clear plastic forks. I loved it!

This tree represents my dad. It was a manly mechanic tree, and it had a lot of sayings on it involving duct tape. Definitely my dad.

This tree reminds me of my mom. She loves and collects snowmen. They had a lot of trees with snowmen, and this one was really pretty.

This tree reminds me of Mikey because he is a UTE and is proud of it! As always, there were a lot of UofU and BYU trees.

This tree is for my seesters. <3 I thought it was so cute. I love my sisters so much, especially my younger sis Tess who I grew up with. I don't know how you can accurately represent all of those special feelings and bonds between sisters on a tree... but they did a pretty good job. It just about made me cry; it was so precious!

It was kind of silly to decorate my tree the same day I went to the Festival of the Trees. We decorated ours in the morning and I was mostly satisfied. When we finished with the Festival we hit up Walmart with hopes that we could find some more cheap decorations to add to our tree. We were successful. I have bigger and better plans for our tree, but we'll save those for next year. All in all, our tree turned out pretty nice. The tree colors match our front room, dining room and kitchen. We had a lot of fun decorating it, even though "WE" consisted of me mostly decorating it and Michael putting a few things on. Apparently tree decorating does not come naturally to everyone. haha
Mikey and I with our first major Christmas tree in our new house.

We've had a great holiday season so far and look forward to the upcoming weeks. We'll be spending time with each of our families and have plenty of time to ourselves as well. Such are the benefits of my teaching job and Mike suddenly being unemployed! We're choosing to look at the silver lining and be grateful for this time we have to spend together. Merry Christmas!
