Well, it seems like the summer has come and gone rather quickly this year. For two years in a row, I have spent the majority of my summer "off" working more than usual. Despite the many hours of work, we found fun things to do together to celebrate the summer.
We went to our first Bee's game! And they won!! We had AMAZING seats, thanks to my sister's boyfriend who is an intern with the Bee's. And it was on the 24th of July so there was a great fireworks show afterwards.

Mike celebrated his 24th birthday on July 26th. I planned a "Rock and Roll" themed party and made my first EVER successful cake. I have issues with baking cakes, but I was quite proud of this!! We went to Gunnison to celebrate with his family.

For the second year in a row, it was too windy outside to light candles. So we got creative this year and lit a sparkler! Hey, it worked and Mike got his wish!
I got Mike a guitar shaped spatula and a guitar cheese grater. So fun!
The first week of August was one of the craziest week of my life! As part of my new job I had to prepare for and present at our state Dual Immersion conference AUDII. I faciliated 5 or 6 different sessions and planned a couple of more. I was working 12-16 hour days, which were hard to handle with a little munchkin growing and kicking inside of me. I didn't really see the hubby much that week. But, I did decorate the house with "Luau" decorations one evening so we could have our own private little luau which made a typical night at home seem a little more special. Maya even participated in our festivities!
One evening during that crazy week, we went out to eat at In and Out and we noticed a car show in our neighborhood. Although I couldn't really afford the time, we spent some time walking around and admiring the classic cars. It was a great time!
In mid-August, Maya graduated from her obedience class at Petsmart! She was the star student of her class and was constantly used as an example. She is smart puppy! And very cute!
This is Maya's friend Max from her class.
Maya had to say goodbye to her friends Gus and Max.
Mike and I desperately wanted a vacation this summer. Nothing too extravagant; just a little camping trip or Vegas get away. But, it never happened. Mike was taking classes this summer and working full time and I was working a lot as well. We had only two days off together and we needed those days to work on house projects such as landscaping and fixing/building our fence. So... my older sister spoiled us with a treat. She and her hubby gave us a night's stay at the Black Swan Inn in Pocatello, Idaho. It's a themed hotel which makes it feel like you're on a real vacation. We chose the Mayan room and loved it!
Our breakfast gift basket.

There was a running fountain/waterfall with large gold fish in the pond.
The huge jetted tub was up in the loft.

After our night's stay at the Mayan, we spent the day with my sister and my cute nieces and nephews.
After school started and I officially began my new job, we were able to go to the Davis County Rodeo! As part of my job, I have been helping guest teachers from Spain adapt to the American culture and to their American classrooms. I have made some great friends along the way. One of my new besties is Noemi. Her husband Alex and my husband have become best friends as well. We had a great time showing them how Americans love their rodeos!
Over labor day, we were hoping to go camping. However, all of the campsites were full in the State of Utah. Sad day. Then we decided we would go to the pool since we haven't been able to the past two summers. But then it was cloudy and slightly rainy. Even sadder day. But then Mike planned a fun picnic up a nearby canyon. We traveled up some dirt roads in his Subaru until we got to the top of the mountain with an amazing view of the valley and the Copper Mine. It was a little chilly, so we had our picnic in the Subi. So fun!

Mike and I were still hoping to have one last adventure this weekend and take Maya camping, but I don't think I have the energy. I'm getting large! And uncomfortable. Instead, we're going to go to the State Fair for our last summer outing before Autumn comes. Although we never got that "vacation", we sure had a good summer! I had my Mikey, my puppy, and my baby!!
