Gender Reveal Extravaganza!

Mike and I decided we really wanted to celebrate our pregnancy with a flair! Shortly after we learned we were to have a baby, I heard about gender reveal parties. I looked up some videos on YouTube and I knew I just HAD TO HAVE ONE!!! At the doctor's appointment to find out the gender of the baby, we didn't look when he was reviewing the genetal organs. We had him print out a picture, write down the sex, and seal it in an envelope. We then took the envelope immediately over to a friend to bake a cake. she decorated the cake in a gender neutral way, and the inside of the cake would reveal the sex of the baby. Pink =girl! Blue =boy! Then we got together with family and close friends at our home to reveal the surprise. Here is the video of Mike and I cutting the cake to reveal the gender of our sweet bundle of joy!

It's a BOY!!!!

Now, there's a lot more to a gender reveal party if you want there to be. And I sure love a good party, so I went all out. Here are some of the decorations I made and put together.

I planned a couple of simple activities as well.

Guests were to wear pink or blue, depending on what they thought the baby would be. They also marked their vote with tally marks:

The votes for a boy far outweighed the votes for a girl.

I also listed some of our favorite names for boys and girls and our guests got to vote for their favorite boy name and girl name.

The favorite boy names were Rhett and Daxton. The favorite girl names were Desiree, Brielle, Tiana and Brynnley.

I looke up several old wives tales that would help us determine if this baby would be a boy or a girl. My sister Tessa asked the questions and I answered them. She put up blue little feet if the answer indicated boy, and pink little feet if the answer indicated girl. At the end, we had one more set of pink feet than blue. The wives tales said I would be having a girl. Were they right??

Finally it was time for the cake!

Our party would not have been a party without our loved ones who joined us!

Lindsey is a close friend and this beautiful lady made the cake!! She's the best! My stepmom and dad drove all the way from Preston, Idaho! I love them!

My Dad and sister, Tessa.

Mike's sister Joanna and his other sister and her and husband, Vickie and Matt.

Mike's mom, dad, nephew Asher and baby Carter (Matt and Vickie's cute lil' guy).

The bestest friends Matt, Jeana and Rylee and the Faulkner Family.

It was crazy amounts of fun and we loved finding out our first little one will be a boy. Now bring on the shopping for blue!!!
