So my hubby and I have been experiencing a lot of stress lately. Nothing too serious, just a lot of the every day stress. Mike has been out of work for a long time and is majorly stressing about school and applying for the architecture program. I've picked up a couple of extra jobs as opportunities arose and haven't had any time for myself or our relationship lately. On Friday morning, Mike and I started bickering over dishes and petty stuff we usually never worry about, and I decided we needed to get away. I had just talked to my older sis about life, marriage, and family. She and her new husband are good with communicating with each other and getting away for date nights and romantic evenings. And they have 10 kids!!! I called up Anniversary Inn on Friday in Logan and asked if they had rooms available. They had a good deal going on and had King Arthur's Castle available, so I did it... I left all of my work and worries at home, packed a bag for Mike and I, and we jumped in a car! We stopped by Burger King on the way to grab crowns (Mike had no idea why). We then stopped by Cafe Sabor to get some dinner. I had Mike drive to the temple grounds where I told him how much I loved and appreciated him, and we talked about our magical wedding day. He thought that was the surprise. I told him we were going to eat our take out in the park, and we headed in that direction when I told him to quickly turn right and we turned right into Anniversary Inn! Mike was so so surprised! He couldn't believe it! I haven't been too random or spontaneous lately, and he couldn't believe what I had done! We had a great night playing with the sword, watching movies, playing board games, and just spending time together. I really think we need to do this more often. Making time for each other away from home is so important! This weekend helped us remember what's most important in this life... each other! <3
Sunday we drove up to Pocatello for my niece's blessing! We had a blast with the family. After the blessing, we went to my brother-in-law's karate studio to eat lunch and hang out. It was a great weekend! I really am so blessed to have such a wonderful family!
We've recently had a downpour of blessings!! MIKE GOT A JOB!!! He's working at Mark Miller Toyota as a lot technician. He helps bring the cars in the shop, talks to the customer, details their cars, and drives the shuttle. This job is perfect for his school schedule and we should still see each other! In addition to teaching, I'm currently writing curriculum for Teach for America in Houston, and loving it! It's been such a great opportunity to grow as an educator; it's helped me be a better teacher and gain more experience. I've also been wait listed for a job I applied for with Teach for America that would send Mike and I to Houston for 1 month of the summer and give us lots and lots of dinero!! In this job I would train teachers how to be teachers! TFA is not sure of how many corp member teachers they will have this summer, so I'm put on hold. But I'm good with the idea of going, or staying. Lots of exciting things! Lots of blessings!! Just waiting for one more major blessing named.... TAX RETURN!
